Big Knuckle is one of the more popular scrambles in the area. The fairly well travelled trail starts at the end of Beta lake Access road (E100), which can be pretty rough, but ends at almost 1250M in elevation already. The scenic Trail is a fairly tame continuous ascent that passes by the quite stunning Beta lake, and looks over Alpha and Gamma lake at different points as well, past Beta lake, the trail steepens a little, and eventually you are brought to one 10 meter scramble up a small gulley with ropes draped off some small shrubs above. The summit provides very good 360 views. to the North West, Sentinel Ridge, to the North East, Little Knuckle, and to the East, the massive granite highway of Walt Ridge. To return, it was a simple backtrack of the way up.
