After climbing Klitsa earlier in the day, we entered back into civilization around 2 PM. Tyler and I still had some energy to burn and time to kill. We started making our way back to Comox, and after some Peak Bagger analyzation I found Mount Wesley. It was not quite as exciting as I would have hoped to find as a nearby objective, but we settled for it. After all, the trailhead was right beside where we had parked in Cathedral Grove to check the map. We emptied our bags down to a bottle of water each, and made our way to the west side of Cameron lake. We hiked the cabin road for a few minutes, and the trailhead was right there. Unfortunately we completely missed it on the way up, so instead of backtracking we bushwhacked our way up the first 100M to meet the trail again. The trail is steep and covered in slippery bits of gravel that made the descent precarious. Aside from that, it is quite simple to follow, and at 425M you can either go Left for Mount Horne, or right for Mount Wesley. Wesley is the taller of the two, so we chose it first. After more steep trail and two sections with some fixed ropes, we made it up to a good viewpoint. From here you could see Arrowsmith and Cameron lake below. Just a few minutes later we made it to the summit. It was forested, but we still enjoyed a view-less snack break. Low on energy, we decided to skip Mount Horne to the west on the way down. They are often done back to back, but the day had been long enough. We retreated back down to the truck the same way we came up, minus the unnecessary bush whack.
