After a few days of rest in Lescun recovering from heat stroke, I got going again early in the morning to try and avoid some of the 30 plus degree heat that was forecasted for the day. The day began with a long climb starting at 850M up to Col de Pau at 1940M. From here I noticed that Punta O Riste happened to be quite close to the trail and would require very minimal deviation to bag. It is not really that interesting of a summit and is dwarfed by Pic Rouge and Pic d'Aillary further down the same ridge line. I decided however that since there wouldn't be any other real memorable summits to pass by for the day, I would like to keep the ball rolling and tag it. I detoured around the side of Pic du Burcq, and left my bag at 2050M where the high point of the trail was. From here I was on the summit after less than 10 minutes of hiking on a mix of mellow grass and rocks. I took some good panorama pictures, then went back down to the trail to gather my bag before descending to Refuge d'Arlet by the lake to wait out the afternoon heat of the day. After waiting at the refuge I made my way down into a valley where there was some forests and it was much cooler. I then climbed up the other side of the valley and made my way up to Ibon des Estanes via a quite steep trail with a few metal bars for assistance. At this point I decided that I would go for Punta Bisaurin, so I made my way around the South side of the lake and began to make my way as close to Punta Bisaurin as possible, and try to find somewhere flat and with water to camp. I also did not want to carry my overnight bag further than was really necessary. I ended up setting up a sweet camp spot about 150M under the col Brecha de Secus. I found a sweet little flat spot that was slightly sheltered and where I could collect water off of a slowly melting snow patch. From here I could leave my gear and head up towards Bisaurin the following morning.
