The debate on whether or not to climb Bisaurin has been lingering in my head for the better part of a week. It's hard to evaluate how much time I want to spend doing detours while I simultaneously complete the HRP. It was only after taking a break at Ibon des Estanes the day before that I decided I would go for it and try to climb Bisaurin. The route that I would climb from Brecha de Secus and then Collado de Secus is definitely not the standard route, and I didn't read much about it, so it would be a bit of a wild swing at it. I had decided that it was either Bisaurin or an attempt on the iconic Pic Midi d'Ossau, the impressive mountain which has been very visible for the previous few days. Unfortunately it is more often done with ropes, and with the lack of studying and mixed reviews on doing it without ropes, I opted for the other peak with over 1000M prominence with a better success rate, in the form of Bisaurin. In the morning I took down camp just below the Breche and took the essentials with me to go do an out and back on the peak. I climbed the last 170 meters from camp over Brecha de Secus, and then started heading West towards La Pena Mediodia. After skirting around to the South Ridge of La Pena, I was at Collado de Secus, at just under 2400M. I then picked out my route as I went and made my way up to the false summit of Bisaurin. The blocky terrain was fun scrambling and I hopped in and out of shallow gulleys. The summit was fantastic and I spent a little while admiring the views. I then downclimbed back past the Eastern false summit and back down to Collado de secus. A little while later I was back at camp, and I picked up all my gear to continue my HRP segment for the day. I made my way down the feint trail that often didn't really exist, and passed back around the South side of Ibon de Estanes. At this point the trail started to exist again, and I descended down into the Cirque d'Aspe and circumnavigated it. My route then brought me down into the ski town of Candanchu where I was able to take a break and stop by a corner store to pick up some snacks. I then hiked up the highway to another ski station, Station de Astun. Once I was at Astun I hiked the exhausting climb up to Col des Moines, and then made a big scenic descent down to Cabande de Cap de Pount, enjoying the views of Pic du Midi d'Ossau the whole way. It was mid to late afternoon at this point, and the thunderstorm was starting to brew, so I immediately booked over 650 meters up to Col de Peyreget, which is the col between Pic du Midi d'Ossau and Pic Peyreget. There were a few hikers hanging up at the col despite the pending thunderstorm, so I took a minute to eat a few snacks and hang out before making one final descent down to Refuge de Pombie where I would set up camp for the night.
