Day 28 of my HRP traverse was yet another big day, mostly in distance covered. Yesterday I descended into Hospitalet Pret l'Andorre and caught the bus to Arles Sur Tech to resupply and take a break. It was a short day, but in the afternoon I still climbed back up past 2050M to spend the night in the mountains. I spent the night by a creek just East of refuge des Besines. In the morning I packed up and headed up to Coll de Coma d'Anyet, I then dropped back down over the col to Estany de Lanoset, next to the rather large lake of Lanoux. Once I was at the lake I deviated from my HRP route, and started hiking on other existing trails in an effort to incorporate today's peak, Pic Carlit into the day. I hiked around the lake to it's South East side, then followed some bumpy terrain up to Estany dels Forals. This little alpine lake sits right at the bottom of the West side of Pic Carlit, right before the climb steepens up. I took a bit of a break, then started battling the loose rocks on the broad chute up to the summit, the chute lasted about 300 meters, then finally near the top the rocks solidified a bit. I passed between the sub summit on the Left, and the true summit on the Right, then took a Right to climb to the top. The summit was pretty busy by late morning, and It was obvious that the popular route was up the East side of the mountain. after hanging out on the summit a bit I left, and passed hordes of hikers climbing the mountain on my way down. From the summit all the way back until Lac des Bouillouses there was consistently hikers on the trail, and I was getting exhausted at greeting them all. The route down the East side of the mountain was slightly easier than the West side, but neither side is conclusively class three, despite being pretty steep and loose hikes. After making it to Lac des Bouillouses It was a long and tiring hike across a broad valley that was filled with lots of villages. I stopped in Super Bolquere to eat some food, then kept hiking mainly along paved countryside roads. I hiked through the village of Eyne in the evening, then finally camped out in La Valle d'Eyne for the night.
