On day 25 of my HRP hike I made my way through the north of small country of Andorra. I felt obliged to bag a peak in a new country, and one of the closer ones to my route was Pic de Serrere. I spent the night before in Parc Encodia just before the ski village of El Serrat. In the morning I then made my way up past the Refuge de Sorteny and into the Sorteny natural park. I planned to make my way up the South West side of the mountain in order to incorporate it into my route, l but once I got to the intersection that I planned to turn off on, the trail on my map didn't exist. Instead, I followed my the HRP and made my way up to Collada de Meners at 2700M. From the col I was then able to drop my bag and quickly make my way up the South East ridge as an out and back. The ascent was nothing more than a hike on broken shale on a somewhat existent path. Pic de Serrere is Andorra's 4th highest peak. Comically, the 2nd highest peak stands at 2915M, the third at 2914M, and Pic Serrere at 2913M. Regardless, there was great views of all the other higher peaks in this small nation, including Pic de l'Estanyo just to the South. Great views of yesterday's climb Pica d'Estats were also seen, and if you looked further West into the distance, you could even see Aneto and it's glacier. After hanging out with a local Andorran mountain guide on the summit, I started to head back down to Col des Meners to pick up my bag and continue for the day. Throughout the afternoon I made my way across the entire country and ended up camping just after the border in France again. After descending the col I passed Refugi Coms de Jan, and then went up and over a pass to Refugi de Cabana Sorda. I spent a few minutes at Refugi de Cabana Sorda next to the lake, as it was a beautiful spot. I then descended to the Riu del Manegor, and then climbed up to Refugi de Juclar. I had an amazing swim in the clear water of Estany Primer de Juclar. After the swim I climbed up to Collada de Juclar, on the French border. From here I could make my descent past a series of gorgeous lakes, the last of them being Etang de Pedoures, where I set up camp for the night. The next day would be a short descent into village Hospitalet Pret l'Andorre, where I could then resupply again.
