Vision and Prospector Peak are quite uninteresting as far as the Qathet peak scene goes, and don't really offer much in terms of interesting terrain and cool climbing. They are however two relatively tall peaks from my hometown that are fairly easily accessed and I had not done yet, so a visit on one bored day had to be made. My usual partner in climb Tyler might as well have written this intro as he is in the same boat too. We chose to do these two after a very short recon mission for a seldom visited side of a more interesting objective in Beartooth Mountain went about as poorly as it could have gone. We camped out with some friends who were climbing in the Eldred valley the night before and got an early start in the darkness of the forest. The first part of this route consisted of a quite hard to follow trail called the Amon Rudh. This trail is mainly used as access to one of the Eldred's finest climbs "On the Virg". A few hours into the forest, the trail for Amon Rudh no longer makes sense to follow, and the bush bash begins. The start of the bush bash is really quite acceptable, but eventually you are forced to cross a steeper section of terrain in order to make it into the broad bowl to the south east of Vision Peak. The crux of this whole section is a steep blueberry pull up beside a large unfeatured slab. above it we actually found a small cedar tree with some shoddy tat on it. A bit more traversing along this steep forest and we were starting to enter the big bowl. We had made it onto snow at this point, so we threw our crampons on and set our sights for the col between the two peaks. We traversed up the bowl, keeping the rock face to our right and the forest to our left. The snow was easily traveled and not very steep, so we made good time up to the col and never really had to use our ice axes.
